[Internal] What are the usage limits for the Mendix Document Generation module

Introduction

The Mendix Document Generation module includes a recommended usage guideline for document generation per app environment. This article explains how the document generation quota is applied, what happens when the guideline is exceeded, and the available options for applications that require higher document volumes.

Mendix Document Generation module

Details

The Mendix Document Generation module includes the following usage guidelines per app environment:

  • A maximum of 250 PDF documents per day
  • A maximum of five PDF documents per minute

The daily limit of 250 PDF documents is a recommended usage guideline and is not enforced as a hard limit. PDF generation continues to function when the threshold is exceeded. However, generating documents significantly above this volume may impact platform performance.

When an app environment is expected to exceed the daily guideline regularly or during planned peak periods, contact Mendix Support and provide the URLs of the affected environments. This allows the usage to be reviewed and monitored appropriately.

The limit of five PDF documents per minute is currently fixed and cannot be extended.

To support higher document generation volumes, Mendix plans to introduce add-on resource packages that can be used in addition to the daily free quota of 250 PDF documents per app environment. After the daily free quota is consumed, document generation usage is deducted from the assigned resource package. The quota resets every day.

The planned package sizes are:

  • Small – 1,000 additional documents per day
  • Medium – 2,000 additional documents per day
  • Large – 5,000 additional documents per day

Multiple app environments can be assigned to a single resource package. However, a single app environment cannot be assigned to more than one resource package.
