How to change the license type of a published Marketplace module

Introduction

After publishing a private module to the Mendix Marketplace, the license type cannot be changed directly. When a module is published with an incorrect license selection, such as Creative Commons CC0 instead of Apache V2, correction of the license type or deletion and republishing is required.

The Mendix Marketplace does not provide a direct option to edit the license type of an already published module. Once a module is published, its metadata, including the license type, becomes fixed and cannot be modified through standard editing options.

Environment

Mendix Portal

Instructions/Procedure

To change the license type of a published Marketplace module, deprecate and unpublish the component, then republish it with the correct license.

To change the license type, complete the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the published module in the Mendix Marketplace
  2. Select the Deprecate Component option

Outcome

After deprecating the component, it is possible to unpublish it. Once unpublished, publish the module again and select the correct license type during the publication process.
