Blocking search engines from indexing Mendix Cloud hosted applications

Issue

When hosting applications on the Mendix Cloud, organizations may need to prevent these environments—such as test, acceptance, or other non‑production instances—from being indexed by Google or other search engines. In some cases, adjusting the robots.txt file to disallow crawling or attempting to verify the domain through Google Search Console may not be sufficient or feasible, particularly because Mendix manages the underlying domain infrastructure and DNS configuration.

Environment

Applications hosted in Mendix Cloud

Cause

Blocking search engine indexing through DNS‑based verification methods—such as adding Google Search Console DNS records—is not supported for Mendix Cloud–hosted applications.

Solution/Workaround

There is currently no supported solution or workaround for preventing Google from indexing Mendix Cloud–hosted applications.
