Issue
Nightly Backups in Mendix Cloud may experience delays, starting later than the expected timeframe and extending into morning hours. The exact start time of backups can vary, and a precise start time cannot be guaranteed. This behavior is related to the distribution of backup start times.
Environment
Applications hosted in Mendix Cloud
Cause
The change in backup times occurs because applications are hosted in regions where the backup service handles a high volume of backups each night. Factors such as the load on the backup infrastructure and the region where an app is hosted contribute to this. This high volume results in a longer backup window, causing the backup schedule to shift and delays to occur.
Solution / Workaround
While there is currently no workaround or solution to this, Mendix is actively working on the new backup service. This service aims to resolve the current issues and provide a more consistent backup schedule. An exact timeline for its release is not available at this point. Documentation is being updated to better reflect these variations in backup schedules and to set clearer expectations for users.
