Mendix Admin not able to update the app Technical Contact from the Control Center

Issue

Mendix Admin is unable to update the Technical Contact for a licensed node through the Control Center. When attempting to save the change, the Control Center displays the error message:

Failed to Update the Technical Contact.

Cause

This issue occurs when the application’s environments (the license) are owned by a different company than the one the Mendix Company Admin belongs to. The app project itself belongs to the same company as the Mendix Admin. In these cases, the Mendix Admin does not have the required permissions to update the Technical Contact, which results in the error.

Because the environment owner determines who can manage Technical Contacts, the update cannot be completed until the app environments and the license are aligned with the customer’s company.

Solution / Workaround

To resolve the issue, ensure that the app project and its environments (the license) are aligned under the same company. Mendix Admins can verify ownership directly in the Control Center.

  1. Open the Apps page in the Control Center and select the Mendix Cloud tab, which lists all licensed apps that can be deployed on Mendix Cloud.

  2. Enable the Environment Owner column by clicking the eye symbol next to it.

  3. Review which environments are still deployed on nodes owned by another company.

To transfer the environment ownership to another company, contact Mendix Support and include confirmation from the Mendix Admin of the company that currently owns the environments.

Before the transfer can take place, the receiving company must have a relevant license with sufficient cloud tokens. If additional capacity is needed, the customer should contact their Customer Success Manager to arrange the required resources.

Once the app and its environments are fully aligned with the customer's company, Company Admins will be able to update Technical Contacts without any issues.
